Injector Trim Calibration using Caterpillar ET Software - Martin56 - 03-16-2023

whenever an Injector is replaced, it has to be trimmed. Trimming the lnjector allows the Engine tocomply with local EPA emissions regulations. The Injector Trim calibration allows the lnjector trimcode information to be programmed into the ECM.After the lnjector is calibrated, it is checked to ensureits validity.


Accessing
To run the Injector Trim Calibration:
1). Connect CAT ET to the Service Tool connector.
2). select Calibrations from the service menu.
3). select Injector Trim Calibration from the submenu.
4).Click Start. The Injector Trim Calibration screen is displayed.
#Screen Layout
The Injector Trim Calibration screen has the following areas:
A. Display Area
The lnjector Trim Calibration display area has three columns:
- Injector -Lists the available Injectors.
- Serial Number - Provides the serial number corresponding to each Cylinder.
- File Version - Displays the lnjector Trim File version currently programmed into the ECM forthe injector.
For some products, a Tattletale column is displayed after the File Version column. Tattletalesrepresent the number of times the Injector's Injector Trim File has been changed.
B.Buttons
The buttons available in the Injector codes Calibration screen are:

. Exchange
Note:For some products, the electronic exchanging of Injectors functionality is not supported; thereforethe Exchange button does not display.
To program an Injector:
(1). Change
a). Highlight an injector and click Change.The open dialog box is displayed.
→Note: The open dialog box points to the file location that was set in the Directories tab in thePreferences dialog box.
→Select the Injector Trim File for the highlighted injector and click Open.
一Note: An Injector Trim File cannot be selected for more than one Injector.
b). Click Open. An Warning message Are you sure... dialog box is displayed.
c).Click Yes. As the lnjector is programmed, a progress bar is displayed. when the programming forthe selected Ilnjector is complete, the lnjector rim successfully Programmed message box isdisplayed.
d). Click OK. The Injector Trim Calibration screen is displayed.
→Note: lf the wrong confirmation code is entered, the lnjector will not be programmed.
(2). Exchange
The Exchange button allows the trim information between two lnjectors to be electronically exchangedfor diagnostic purposes.
一Note: For some products, the Exchange button is not supported and will not be displayed.
#To exchange two Injectors:
a). Click the Exchange button.The Injector Exchange dialog box is displayed.
b). Select the first Injector of the exchange from the Exchange Injector drop-down list.
一Note: The number of the lnjector that was highlighted in the Injector Trim Calibration screenautomatically displays in the Exchange lnjector text box.
c ). Select the second Injector of the exchange from the With Injector drop-down list.
d). Click OK.The Please wait. message is displayed. When the exchange is complete, the InjectorExchange is complete message box is displayed.
e). Click OK. The Injector Trim Calibration screen is displayed with an increased tattletale count ofthe two lnjectors that were exchanged.
